The Post Office have informed me of the ending of Post Office services in Cyncoed from its current branch, of McColls at 287 Cyncoed Road. They’ve also informed me that they are currently exploring other options to the reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.

A letter from the Post Office explaining this in more detail is available here.

If you have any concerns or opinions about these plans please contact me using the details below and I will pass your views on to the Post Office.

I understand this will be very frustrating, given the previous closures and problems with Post Office provision in Cyncoed.

I have written to the Post Office to express my concerns about provision in the area, given the previous problems with closures to the service, and asked to be kept up to date with any developments in the search for a new provider. I’ve also stressed the need for alternative provision to be found urgently.

In the meantime, the Post Office have identified these two post offices for alternative provision:

● St Isan Road Post Office, 42 St Isan Road, Cardiff, CF14 4LX

● Pentwyn Post Office, Pentwyn Shopping Centre, Cardiff, CF23 7EY

As soon as an alternative partner is found, the Post Office will begin a consultation process with the local community. As soon as there is an update on this I’ll be in touch with the information you need to feed in to the consultation.

While my office is currently closed to face-to-face appointments, my staff and I have been dealing with casework as normal throughout the pandemic via email, telephone and post, so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
