The second annual of Great Get Together is taking place 22nd – 24th June 2018 with hopefully even more fun and friendly events in Cardiff Central than last year.
The Great Get Together is inspired by my friend and colleague Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. We believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us. This is our chance.
Jo’s family and friends came up with the initiative, and have teamed up with The Big Lunch to move their annual celebration. More than one hundred organisations supported the Great Get Together last year and there are were just under 120,000 Great Get Together events held around the country.
Last year’s events in Cardiff were a great success, with open, inclusive and family friendly events, such as picnics and sing-alongs organised all across the city that really brought out the community spirit. Let’s come together again this year to celebrate the work and life of Jo Cox and fight hate and divisiveness with yet more fun and community building.
If you’d like to organise a Great Get Together event in Cardiff Central, please let me know and I’ll do my best to come along and say hello! Just email firstname.lastname@example.org.
