This week Great Western Railway opened their Customer and Communities Investment Fund (CCIF) for the second year. They are seeking bids for projects that will start in April 2017.
The total fund is £2.25million, and GwR are offering £750,000 a year for projects that support areas in social need.
If you think you might have a project, idea, or advanced plan linked to rail, that would support the local community, GwR would welcome your application.
There is a very simple on line application form, and a guidance booklet that gives a good idea of what does and does not qualify on www.gwr.com/ccif
Last year GwR were heavily oversubscribed and they will not be able to fund every application. However, GwR want to encourage as many entries as possible to be sure they have a great range of innovative and creative projects to consider.
CCIF recognises and supports schemes and projects identified by the communities they serve and must be supported by their customers, who form part of the group assessing successful bids. The guidance booklet sets out the type of applications we are seeking, and also gives some information on those we would find it harder to support. We want to encourage bids from all areas of our network.
Bids need to be submitted by Thursday 30 June 2016 so that they can be fully reviewed by a shortlisting panel of customers, stakeholders and GWR’s Executive. Schemes that are shortlisted will be visited over the summer to discuss proposals in more detail before final recommendations are put to the Department for Transport (DfT) for approval in the autumn.
