Do you have any unwanted toiletries lying around your home?
Do you want to help women in need this winter?
Project Shoebox Cardiff is back for 2016, collecting shoeboxes filled with toiletries to make gift boxes for women in refuges in Cardiff and the South Wales area.
Women fleeing abuse and violence arrive at refuges in Cardiff and South Wales every day. Many are bruised, battered and may arrive with nothing more than the clothes they are standing in. It’s vitally important that we keep up the political pressure to stamp out violence against women for good.
Alongside campaigning, projects like this bring women together to provide the immediate support that’s needed when people are fleeing dangerous situations.
Like last year, I’m offering my office as a drop-off point for donations of toiletries and gift boxes.
You can drop boxes in to 116 Albany Road, CF24 3RU from 9am – 5pm until Friday 2nd December.
Here are some ideas for the kind of things your boxes could contain:
- New toothbrushes
- Shower gel
- Face wipes
- Sanitary products
- Body/face creams
- Body scrub
- Make up
- Nail polish/remover/files
- Cotton wool
The team are also accepting donation boxes for babies with things such as nappies, baby wipes, cotton buds, baby wash, and small soft toys.
If you wrap the shoeboxes, please make sure the lid and base are separate so that the boxes can be opened easily.
