If you haven’t yet registered to vote in the European Referendum, you now have one more day to make sure you have.
Following problems with the gov.uk website last night in the run up the original deadline, the Government has extended the deadline until tomorrow. You now have until midnight at the end of Thursday 9th June to register.
It has been reported that over 25,000 people were online shortly before the deadline yesterday attempting to register but the website was overloaded and unable to process all the requests.
My Labour colleague and Shadow Minister for Voter Registration, Gloria de Piero raised the issue in an urgent question to the Government after Prime Minister’s Questions today.
It is important that the Government does all it can to ensure everyone who wants to vote in the referendum is able to, so I’m pleased that the Minister took Gloria’s question seriously and has extended the deadline.
It only takes a couple of minutes to register, so if you aren’t yet registered go to gov.uk/registertovote now and sign up.
Don’t miss the chance to have your say in one of the biggest decisions of our lifetime.
