In Parliament today I challenged the Secretary of State for Wales on the Tory Government’s police funding cuts and the fact that our police force does not get recognised as a capital city force attracting specific additional funding.
Cardiff, usually Cardiff Central, hosts more than 400 major events a year at an additional cost of at least £3 million annually. That’s the equivalent of 60 police officers. I called for the Government to recognise South Wales Police as a capital city force with the proper funding to match.
