Today I questioned the Brexit Minister on whether UK students will be able to participate in the Erasmus+ scheme after Brexit. Erasmus+ is an educational and cultural exchange programme that benefits UK and European students. In 2016 alone, 2235 students from Wales received Erasmus+ grants to study abroad, and Wales has received over £26 million for educational and cultural schemes from Erasmus in the last 4 years.
For once, I got a reasonably encouraging answer, although it wasn’t definite. The Minister talked about continuing collaboration with the EU in his reply. I will keep pressing this issue for the benefit of the many students and our universities in Cardiff Central.
