I am looking for a Parliamentary Assistant to work in my busy Westminster office. The successful applicant must be able to work to tight deadlines and manage a challenging workload, both independently and as part of a small team.

Job Description

  • Providing research briefings for Parliamentary debates and key policy issues
  • Managing and monitoring all incoming communications to the Westminster Office
  • Providing website and newsletter content specific to Jo’s Westminster activity
  • Drafting Parliamentary questions and correspondence
  • Maintaining a strong link between Westminster and the Constituency Office
  • Undertaking specific policy casework as appropriate
  • Supervising staff where appropriate
  • Management of Jo’s Westminster Diary

Person Specification

  • Disciplined self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised and to manage and prioritise a challenging workload
  • Awareness and understanding of current political issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of constituency relationship and context
  • Understanding of Welsh devolution arrangements
  • Sympathetic to values and aims of the Labour Party


Closing Date: 15 January 2017

Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday 18th January 2017.

Start date: as soon as possible.
