I was pleased to visit Bryn Celyn Primary School to see one of this year’s Summer Squad sessions for school children in Cardiff. I was shown around by the brilliant staff at the school and Tom from Sport Cardiff.

Summer Squad is this year’s version of the previous Food and Fun groups which were a massive success across the City, offering summer activities for pupils of primary school age across Cardiff.

There was lots on offer for the children there – when I visited there was a pirate theme, with all the children using their craft skills to design a display – which explains why I was made to walk the plank!

All sessions are free of charge and COVID secure, offering a range of activities often run by organisations externally, as well as some excellent and varied sports activities by Sport Cardiff.

These sessions are part time, with different morning and afternoon sessions. Each session comes with a meal for the attendees.

You can find out more by following Summer Squad’s twitter feed here.
