British Gas are excited to unveil their new Generation Green website packed with educational resources and their latest competition, Smarter Power, where schools can win an energy makeover worth up to £50,000 and much more.
Generation Green is British Gas’ education programme aimed to inspire young people to change the way they think about and use energy, through providing free teaching resources, volunteer-led educational experiences, and awarding schools with energy makeovers through our competitions.
Smarter Power Competition
Our latest competition helps children aged 7-11 develop a greater understanding of smart technology and how a smart meter can help save energy. We’re asking children to draw a comic strip to show how they’d work with Wilbur to save energy using a smart meter in their home. We also have some great prizes up for grabs. The competition closes at 5pm on 12 January 2017.
How Smarter Power will help teaching:
- Supports Science/s; Mathematics; Technologies; Geography/Social Studies and PSHE/PSE/Health & Wellbeing curriculum
- Educates pupils about fossil fuels, renewable energy and the importance of saving energy
- Introduces smart technology and smart meters, which are being installed for free in homes across Great Britain to help families track their energy use like never before – in real time!
